A timeout is uncertainty—not permission to send another payment with a new identity.
Start before the transfer
A payout begins with a business obligation: an approved supplier invoice, a customer refund or another authorised payment. Record why the payment is due, who approved it, the beneficiary and the amount. Payment technology moves the instruction; your business still needs to own the approval and the correctness of the recipient details.
Check the destination and the supported rail
Confirm beneficiary details through the checks available in your setup. A successful verification response should be reviewed in context; it does not establish that the underlying invoice is legitimate. NEFT processes instructions in batches, while RTGS settles instructions individually in real time. Choose from the rails actually enabled for your business and confirm their applicable requirements with your provider.
Give the instruction a durable identity
Keep your internal reference separate from the identifier returned by the payment provider. In ZytePe’s documented payout flow, an idempotency key identifies the payout instruction. Save it before you submit the request. When retrying the same instruction, preserve the key and original business payload rather than generating a new payment identity.
Recover an uncertain response
If the initiation response is lost, first preserve what you know: the reference, the saved key and redacted request context. If you received a transaction ID, use the documented status endpoint to investigate. Fresh authentication values may be required for a retried HTTP request even when the business idempotency key stays the same. Confirm retention and retry behaviour before automating recovery.
Close with evidence
Record the returned payment state and any available bank reference. Give pending items an owner and a review time instead of marking them as failed for convenience.
